The objective of the Food Bank Farm is to produce high quality vegetables for families in need. We grow, harvest, wash and package the food items, then deliver them to our partner the Soup Kitchen, who co-ordinates delivery of the food through their food bank located at 172 James Street in Sault Ste Marie.
Our goal is to produce 75-100 hampers of food each week, from the first of July through to Thanksgiving.
Over that 15 week period we plan of growing, harvesting, packaging and distributing 1200 to 1500 hampers of food to some of the most needy families in our community! That’s a lot of food!
We estimate that a family that receives a hamper each week, will be provided with more than $375 worth of high quality, nutritious and delicious food.
